Welcome to the Rowing Club of the Woodlands Adult Rowing page. We have multiple teams that you will be able to join that fit your schedule or rowing goals. RCTW prides itself on having state of the art facilities for our rowers as well as a strong group of coaches who help our rowers discover their unbounded potential.
Rowing is a great total body workout. It uses all of the body’s major muscle groups (arms, legs, back, abdomen, and buttocks). Although strenuous, it is low impact, and improves flexibility and strengthens the back. It can also help prevent and manage osteoporosis.
Rowing relieves stress. It’s not just the exercise and endorphins that make rowing such a good stress reliever. There is a meditative quality in the repetitive rhythm of the stroke. Beautiful sunsets over tranquil waters don’t hurt either.
You can row with others or on your own. We have rowing shells for 4 people, 2 people, or 1 person. Once you complete our Learn to Row program you can continue on your own or take advantage of when we have coaches available and group rows (subject to safety rules and procedures). If you want to row singles you will also need to complete our Learn to Scull program and pass a Flip Test. If you already have rowing experienced, a simple orientation meeting with one of our coaches and completion of the application process is all that is needed.
The master rowers at RCTW are a fun and diverse group that love to train hard. We welcome experienced, ex-collegiate and club rowers from other programs worldwide who are ready to jump right into some competitive rowing and racing. Come get on the water with us. If you are relocating to The Woodlands area, and have been training to race, this is perfect place to get on the water with rowers at your experience level.
Used to Row and Want To Get Back Into Shape
Get back into the swing of things with a refresher course, either with our Learn-to-Row group or in a private lesson. Once you are re-acclimated to a rowing shell, continue rowing with others that share your same rowing goals.
Novice and Recreational
For those of you who just like the pleasure of being out on the water and getting a little exercise, there is usually a group available for a more casual row. If you don’t want to train to compete but would like to become a better rower, we also offer coached classes to help improve your skills in the boat.
