RCTW Team Building Event

RCTW can offer your team a unique, memorable, and physically active team-building training experience that emphasizes the importance of working together for a common goal.

“Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” – Henry Ford

Rowing is known worldwide as the ultimate team sport. Each rower in the boat must be completely in sync with all the other rowers to be successful. We are fortunate to enjoy weather conditions in The Woodlands, TX that allow year-around rowing on our lake.

This team building program combines learning a new skill, along with introducing many aspects of the sport, into a session that provides you and your friends or colleagues a new perspective on teamwork. It all comes together as you push yourselves and build team trust while rowing in unison on scenic Lake Woodlands.

What we propose:

  • Participants use quads (boats with 4 rowers, using sculling technique, i.e. with two oars). Each boat will contain an experienced rower and 3 participants.
  • A typical session will start with a learn to row program on land and on water, followed by short races if conditions allow them – Henley style (2 boats at a time).
  • The approximate duration of the event is 3 hours.
  • We can customize the program based on the needs of the team.
  • We can put a program together during the week or during weekends. We just ask for a 30 days-notice to get our volunteers together and prepared for your group.
  • Minimum participants: 6
  • Maximum participants: 15
  • Some participants can ride in the launch if needed.

The club will provide

  • 2 to 5 boats
  • 2 to 5 experienced rowers who will also be coaching the group.
  • 1 launch driver
  • 1 photographer in the launch if video/photo option
  • Our boathouse is located on the North side of Lake Woodlands. The address is 2505 Lake Woodlands Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77381.
  • Free parking is available next to the boathouse.
  • Northshore Park also has picnic tables, pavilions (you can rent) and play areas if you choose to extend your stay.

Prices:

  • Pricing will vary based on the specific needs and options chosen but in general:
    • 2 boats + launch = $800
    • 3 boats + launch = $1000
    • 4 boats + launch = $1200
  • Photograph/ video option: $100
  • Water included.
  • Option to purchase oars key chains for participants ($10/keychain)

Requirements:

Rowers must be able to swim, stand up from a sitting position on the floor, lift 25 lbs. over their heads and perform a physical activity that requires full-body motion. Due to equipment limitations, participants must weigh between 100 and 250 pounds. Passengers in the launch boat will be required to wear a personal flotation device, and they should be able to step in and out of the boat. All participants will be required to sign a waiver of liability prior to rowing or riding in the launch boat.

WHY GIVE TO RCTW?

Your gift to the Rowing Club of The Woodlands assures that anyone who would like to try rowing can have the opportunity to attend one of our quarterly Learn to Row sessions held at the Boathouse at North Shore Park.  Rowing is a great sport for both competitive and recreational rowers.  Rowers develop:

Excellent overall fitness

Discipline

A sense of teamwork

Self-confidence

A sport suitable for a lifetime

Rowing adds grace and elegance to Lake Woodlands.  If you stop for a bite or a drink along the water or drive over the bridge during practice hours, you see the fleet of oarsmen out on the lake.

Your gift will support the safe training of all rowers, give competitive rowers the equipment they need to win, and help all rowers maintain excellence on and off the water, securing their futures as good sportsmen throughout a lifetime.
