National Learn to Row day 2022 with RCTW

RCTW has hosted another successful Learn to Row program! Juniors, masters, coaches and parents worked non-stop to create a fun and informative experience for everyone attending. The weather was kind to us, and the breeze helped keep the mercury down and the chop to a minimum.

First, attendees enjoyed an erg lesson. Although it looks (and feels) like a torture device, it is paramount for our development on the water. The attendees toured the boathouse, listened to technical descriptions of boats, oars and other elements, and practiced rowing on land. Last, they joined one of the four quads doing tours in the lake between the boathouse and the old offices of CB&I (northern section of the lake). The attendees were not taken  for a ride — they were taught to row and asked to perform at full power for
some time.

You don’t leave our boathouse without the full experience. When you come back to this (or any other) boathouse, you will remember fondly the words of your guides, because there were gold nuggets in their wisdom about oars, how to set your shoes in the boat, and how you can’t flip a quad unless you are
really committed to it.

We can’t wait to see these new faces again, new friends on land and on the water.
